Pain, Occupational & Musculoskeletal Physician

Dr Vo is a dual-qualified Occupational Physician and Pain Specialist with a passion for treating South Australian injured workers. He specialises in providing early intervention to ensure the best long-term recovery and return to work outcomes.

 

He previously managed injured workers at the General Motors Holden Automotive manufacturing plant, remote mining sites as well as having worked in leadership roles for some of Australia’s largest occupational health organisations. He underwent his pain medicine training at the Royal Adelaide Hospital and Royal Melbourne Hospital. He is currently a Consultant at CALHN Pain Management Unit based at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and is a Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Adelaide where he is involved in the teaching of students and trainees.

He is a member of the Australian Pain Society, Neuromodulation Society of Australia and New Zealand, Australia and New Zealand Society of Occupational Medicine and the International Association for the Study of Pain. He has been involved in research as well as presented at state and national meetings.

Dr Vo believes in personalized care and a collaborative multi-disciplinary team-approach for his patients. When indicated, he also utilises minimally invasive pain management procedures including nerve blocks, rhizolysis, peripheral nerve and spinal cord stimulation as well as drug infusion therapies.

His interests include:

  • Work injury

  • Acute & chronic musculoskeletal (neck, back, knee and shoulder pain)

  • Neuropathic pain

  • Persistent post-surgical pain

  • Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS)

Dr Vo is now only taking referrals that are active ReturnToWork SA (RTWSA) worker’s compensation claims. He is also able to see injured workers urgently within two weeks under the Second Opinion Medicine (SOM) Scheme following case manager pre-approval.
